Dataset: Galilee Coal Basins derived from Scott et al, 1995

Description

Abstract

This dataset was supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and is presented here as originally supplied. Metadata was not provided and has been compiled by the Bioregional Assessment Programme based on the known details at the time of acquisition.

Hand digitisation of coal-bearing Permian units existing within the Galilee Basin as published by Scott SG, Beeston JW, Carr AF (1995) Galilee Basin. In: Ward CR, Harrington HJ, Mallett CW and Beeston JW (eds) Geology of Australian Coal Basins. Geological Society of Australia - Coal Geology Group. 1: 341-353. (PDF within dataset folder). The coal-bearing units displayed within this dataset are derived from figures; Aramac Coal Measures (Fig, 9), Bandanna Formation (Fig, 13), Betts Creek Beds (Fig, 14) and Colinlea Sandstone (Fig, 10).

Purpose

Provide a digital, spatial representation of the Galilee Basin as interpreted by Scott et al, 1995 for use in reporting of the Galilee Basin subregion of the Bioregional Assessments

Dataset History

Figures 9, 10, 13 and 14 from the 'Geology of Australian Coal Basins', 'Galilee Basin' chapter (Scott et al, 1995 - attached) were georeferenced and digitised using ESRI ArcMap version 10.0. The polygons were then clipped to the current Galilee Basin boundary.
