Dataset: Landscape classification of the Maranoa-Balonne-Condamine preliminary assessment extent

Description

Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

This is an update from version 4. Minor changes including reclassification of 'GAB springs' and 'Floodplain, GAB GDE, near-permanent wetland' classes to 'GAB GDEs' group, and reformatting class names (capitalising the first character).

This update also includes previous updates: Landscape Groups (lc_group) were added to the dataset as per product 2.3 Conceptual modelling for the MaranoaBalonne-Condamine subregion. Unique landscape class identifiers (lc_id) were also added and the Z and M values have been removed.

The landscape classification of the Maranoa-Balonne-Condamine (MBC) subregion is outlined in the associated report on Conceptual Modelling in section 2.3.3.1 (Landscape classification methodology). This spatial dataset is derived from several other data layers associated with: Queensland remnant vegetation, Queensland wetlands, Queensland groundwater dependent ecosystems, Queensland springs, Geofabric stream network and Australian land use mapping. Classification of these existing datasets using explicit rule sets (see MBC 2.3.3.1) resulted in 24 landscape classes that cover the entire MBC subregion.

Dataset History

Updated dataset from version 4, minor changes including reclassification of 'GAB springs' and 'Floodplain, GAB GDE, near-permanent wetland

' classes to 'GAB GDEs' group, and reformatting class names (capitalizing the first character).

This dataset also incorporates updates from previous versions. The full details of the methodology and source datasets for this resource is given in the MBC 2.3 Conceptual Modelling product (section 2.3.3.1).

  1. All the features missing lc_class and lc_group and lc_id attributes have been updated

  2. The Z and M values have been removed

  3. Counts and areas of the features have been checked against the previous versions of the landscape class datasets to confirm that all features have come through intact to the updated data set.
