This dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from the Catchment Scale Land Use of Australia - 2014 dataset (GUID: 6f72f73c-8a61-4ae9-b8b5-3f67ec918826). You can find a link to the parent datasets in the Lineage Field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.
This dataset includes:
A clip of the dataset 'Catchment Scale Land Use of Australia - 2014' to the Gippsland Basin bioregion boundary
Two tables showing land use statistics for the Gippsland Basin bioregion (primary and secondary land use classification)
The Catchment Scale Land Use of Australia - 2014 (https://data.bioregionalassessments.gov.au/datastore/dataset/6f72f73c-8a61-4ae9-b8b5-3f67ec918826) was clipped by the Gippsland Basin bioregion project boundary (https://data.bioregionalassessments.gov.au/dataset/e8a2d577-c5c5-4e2c-b0fa-53e4b2d4a034) in ArcMap using 'Extract by Mask'.
Statistics for each land use type were derived from the clipped dataset by:
Using the 'Summary Statistics (Analysis)' tool in ArcMap with the follwing inputs: Statistics Field = 'COUNT', Statistic Type = SUM. The tool was run twice, once for the Primary classification and once for Secondary, producing two output tables.
In each table a new field 'AREA_SQ_KM' was added and the area calculated in the Field Calculator using the following equation [SUM_COUNT]*0.0025 (because the SUM_COUNT field indicates the number of 50mx50m grid cells).
The percentage of total Gippsland Basin Bioregion area covered by each land use type was then calculated in a new field (AREA_PERC) using ([AREA_SQ_KM]/14607.81)*100 in the field calculator.
