Dataset: Gloucester Hydrological Divide v03

Description

Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from the Subcatchment boundaries within and nearby the Gloucester subregion dataset. The source dataset is identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

The dataset is a shapefile consisting of a poly line feature indicating the surface water divide within the valley that makes up the Gloucester subregion. Surface water north of this divide flows north into the Gloucester River system and surface water south of the divide flows south into the Karuah river systerm. Used for cartographic purposes only.

This line is a generalisation of the the section of the boundary between the Manning (incl Gloucester) and Karuah River catchments as depicted in the River Regions layer (see lineage). Differs from version 2 in that the line had to be extended eastward to account for the relocated eastern boundary when adopting the gloucester AE boundary for mapping, where v02 only extended to the PAE boundary.

Dataset History

This line was digitised off the screen using the 9 sec DEM derived catchment layer as a back drop. The line polyline was drawn freehand tracing a generalised and more aesthetically pleasing line based on the "sawtooth" boundary depicted in source catchment data. The extent is confined to the Gloucester valley.
