Abstract

This dataset contains hydrochemistry (major and trace elements and methane concentrations) and environmental tracer (e.g. 87Sr/86Sr, 2H, 18O, 13C) data collected from the Cooper Basin Geological and Bioregional Assessment region. Groundwater bores were sampled as part of field trips in 2019 and 2020, with additional samples provided by Santos; the dataset includes chemistry and tracer data from Cooper Basin production bores and GAB bores.

History

This dataset contains field parameters and laboratory analyses of chemistry and environmental tracers on groundwater and gas production bores in the Cooper and Eromanga basins collected from within the Cooper GBA region in QLD and SA. Water samples were collected during two field campaigns in 2019 and 2020, with production waters provided by Santos. Water chemistry data includes general field parameters (e.g. pH, EC and redox potential) and laboratory results, including major and minor ions analysed using a combination of ion chromatography, inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Environmental tracer data contained in this dataset includes 222Rn, 2H, 18O, 87Sr/86Sr, methane concentrations and isotopes, He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe which were analysed using a range of specialised analytical equipment at a variety of laboratories.
