Dataset: MBC Landscape Classes for FAE split by Assessment Units v02

Description

Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

This version of the landscape classification has been clipped to the focal assessment extent (FAE) and split by the 1500 m vectorised grid for input to the AnalysisDB.

The landscape classification of the Maranoa-Balonne-Condamine (MBC) subregion is outlined in the associated report on Conceptual Modelling in section 2.3.3.1 (Landscape classification methodology). This spatial dataset is derived from several other data layers associated with: Queensland remnant vegetation, Queensland wetlands, Queensland groundwater dependent ecosystems, Queensland springs, Geofabric stream network and Australian land use mapping.

Classification of these existing datasets using explicit rule sets (see MBC 2.3.3.1) resulted in 24 landscape classes that cover the entire MBC subregion.

Purpose

The purpose is to assist the geoprocessing aspects of the analysis of potential impacts from coal seam gas and coal mining in MBC.

Dataset History

This is a clipped and "split" version of version 3 of the dataset (http://data.bioregionalassessments.gov.au/dataset/126d4638-20d8-4300-b29f-aecef06b260c).The full details of the methodology and source datasets for this resource is given in the MBC 2.3 Conceptual Modelling product (section 2.3.3.1).
