Spatial dataset recording the shapes of current coal licence applications applied for under New South Wales mining legislation

Dataset History

Under current legislation (Mining Act 1992) the following coal title applications can be made: ALA - Assessment Lease Application, an application to allow retention of mineral rights over an area in which a significant deposit has been identified, but development is not viable in the short term; EL - Exploration Licence Application, an application to explore for Group 9 minerals (coal and oil shale). ML - Mining Lease Application, an application to carry out mining. Appl No Sequential number of the licence applicaton. Act Year The Mining Act under which the title was applied for. The mining act contains the conditions that are in force on the licence. Appl Date The date the application was made. Title Area Area of application Applicant Company making the application Minerals List of minerals targeted by the applicant. Groups The mineral groups which the applcation targets. Groups are as follows: Group 1 - metallic minerals; Group 2 - non-metallic minerals; Group 3 - semi-precious stones; Group 4 - marine aggregate; Group 5 - clay minerals; Group 6 - diamond, corundum, ruby and sapphire; Group 7 - opal; Group 8 - geothermal substances; Group 9 - coal and oil shale; Group 10 - mineral sands.
