Dataset: Water current readings at the 'Red' mooring in the South Central area of Jervis Bay: (Winter) Deployment 2 (12/09/90 to 30/10/90)

Description

A current meter mooring was deployed in the south central section of Jervis Bay between 12/09/90 and 30/10/90. This 'Red' mooring (35.0895 S, 150.735 E) held three S4 Interocean current meters at various depths (18.5m, 10.5m and 6.5m).

Each of these current meters provided two datasets. In the first, the meter integrates the signals over 2 minutes every 10 minutes, providing 10 min sample readings. The second decimated the samples using a running mean to provide hourly intervals.

The data provided in all these datasets includes the eastern and northern tidal components, speed, direction and temperature. The datasets providing the 10 minute sample values also give depth and salinity readings.

Unfortunately one dataset is missing from this collection. The decimated hourly intervals for the meter at 10.5m have not been located and can therefore not be provided through this record

A pdf outlining the structure and hierarchy of all metadata records relating to this project is available to download through this record. Also available is a pdf of a published working paper documenting this experiment and the results.
