The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.
This dataset contains the shapefiles and grids of the total upstream catchment areas for the 30 surface water receptor sites in the Gloucester subregion. Catchment areas were calculated using the BA SYD Albers projection.

Total upstream catchement areas were generated using the ArcGIs 10.1 Spatial Analyst Watershed function on each receptor location. The input pour points and flow direction raster are those indicated in the lineage. To generate total catchments rather than nested catchments the watershed function was run separately on each point feature in the receptor shapefile. This process was automated in a Python script which is also included (though note that paths specified in the script are legacy paths from when the script was run and accessed and output data in a local workspace environment).
The script also converts the output watershed rasters to individual receptor catchment shapfiles. However, there is also a merged feature dataset in the file geodatabase.
