Abstract

This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.

It describes the location, physical and biological attributes of the Great Artesian Basin spring complexes.

Purpose

In this case it's purpose is to define the conservation ranking of the biological and habitat attributes within the Great Artesian Basin spring complexes.

Dataset History

This dataset was compiled by R.J. Fensham, R.J. Fairfax, T. Gotch, D. Niejalke in November 2005 and it's custodian is Queensland Herbarium, Environmental Protection Agency. Data was compiled using various methods including maps, aerial photographs, local knowledge and survey plans. Each spring complex has been assigned a conservation rank which can be referred back to Queensland: Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulation (1994), South Australia: National Parks and Wildlife Act (1972) and New South Wales: Threatened Species Conservation Act (1995)
