This resource provides spatial information about the location of known Grey-headed Flying-fox camps in the Lower Hunter (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, Maitland and Port Stephens LGAs). The locations have been verified through site inspection (november 2012) or discussion with landholders or others with knowledge of the camps location and usage patterns (31 March 2013). The exception is Millfield camp (known as Cessnock camp in the National Camp Database). The location of this camp was not refined.
• The GIS mapping data were obtained to inform sustainability planning for the Lower Hunter region, particularly to assist in informing the NSW Government review of the NSW Lower Hunter regional strategy and Lower Hunter regional conservation plan.
o Once this review is complete, the second stage is to undertake a strategic assessment of proposed urban development and related infrastructure corridors.
