Data was requested of representatives of the following agencies:
ACT Heritage (Environment and Planning Directorate),
NSW (Office of Environment and Heritage),
NT Heritage (Department of Lands Planning and the Environment),
Queensland (Cultural Heritage Unit, Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships),
SA (Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation),
Tasmania (Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania - Department of Primary Industries, arks, Water and Environment),
Victoria (Aboriginal Victoria),
WA (Department of Aboriginal Affairs).
Notes and caveats of Heritage agency data:
Note that for some jurisdictions, 'Indigenous' heritage agencies are not distinct from a broader 'heritage' agency and the same staff and resources are provided for historic, aboriginal and/or natural heritage. Clear separation of resources it not readily available.
Note that New South Wales had Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage combined into one entity in 2013/14 and data is unable to be separated beyond this time frame.
Where data for a jurisdiction or year is absent (null) the data was not available or not provided.
