This is the 2017 update to the classification of aquatic ecosystems in the Murray-Darling. It is a compilation of river, lake, wetland, riparian and floodplain mapping for the Murray-Darling Basin using the best available mapping from state jurisdictions (South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales), Australian Government agencies and other organisations. Data sources range in scale from 1:,000 to 1:250,000. The interim Australian National Aquatic Ecosystem (ANAE) classification framework has been applied to all wetland polygons varying by system type (lacustrine, palustrine, riverine, estuarine and springs.
