Distribution: Super Tuesday Bicycle Counts - cumulative

Dataset: Bicycle Counts – Super Tuesday – Lake Macquarie City Council

Description

The Super Tuesday Bike Count is Australia's biggest visual bike count and originated in Melbourne in 2007. The count takes place from 7am to 9am on the first Tuesday in March when volunteers in count cyclists at particular locations. Nationally, the survey is organised by the Bicycle Network (Victoria) and provides reliable, annual figures on bicycle commuters and their movements during morning peak-hours: how many riders there are and which routes they use. By being counted annually, Super Tuesday helps track long-term patterns and identifies tangible results from network improvements. This complements local counts undertaken by the Newcastle Cycleways Movement. The count is conducted by volunteers who record bike rider movements on a count sheet.
