Dataset: NSW - CRA/RFA - Forests - Eden - National Estate - Indicative Places of Aboriginal Heritage Significance

Description

The shapefiles displaying indicative places of Aboriginal significance represent the areas of significance to indigenous people in the Eden Comprehensive Regional Assessment (CRA) region.

Several datasets were created from Indigenous community workshops conducted with representatives from the Eden, Bega and Merrimans Local Aboriginal Land Councils [LALC]. Subsequent field survey research was conducted by selected community experts in conjunction with Registered Surveyor of Eden.

These datasets were assessed against the following National Estate sub-criteria:

D2: Importance in demonstrating the principal characteristics of the range of human activities in the Australian environment (including way of life, custom, process, land-use, function, design or technique).

G1: Importance as a place highly valued by a community for reasons of religious, spiritual, symbolic, cultural, educational, or social associations.

These are archived datasets jointly owned by the Commonwealth Government and NSW Governments under the NSW Regional Forest Agreements (RFA) Data Agreement of 31 March 2000.This data is restricted and available to third parties for RFA purposes only by agreement of the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments.
