Dataset: NSW - CRA/RFA - Forests - Eden - National Estate - Undisturbed Catchments

Description

Undisturbed catchment data was developed to satisfy National Estate assessment of extensive natural values under the comprehensive regional assessment (CRA) of the Eden region.

The identification of undisturbed catchments was based on an analysis of river flow impediments and the naturalness of the area within the catchment. This assessment is derived from the River Disturbance Index (RDI) Database (Stein 1995) created by the Wilderness and Wild Rivers Section, Australian Heritage Commission.

Undisturbed catchments was derived by applying a threshold to the RDI to extract catchments with minimal disturbance.

This dataset has been assessed against the following National Estate sub-criterion: B1: Importance for rare, endangered or uncommon flora, fauna, communities, ecosystems, natural landscapes or phenomena, or as a wilderness.
